Introduction

This paper presents estimates of output and productivity growth in the education sectors of EU countries in recent years. This draws from two previous papers from the INDICSER project which examined growth in education enrolments and quality adjustments using test scores (Maimaiti and O’Mahony, 2011) and output growth for post-compulsory education using earnings outcomes as a quality adjustment (O’Mahony et al., 2012). It combines these methods for estimating output growth with labour input to arrive at labour productivity productivity growth.
